Companies are ranked following their number of employees. Europe's
largest companies that are 50% or more employee-owned through
an ESOP, Share Purchase Plan, or other Broad-Based Ownership
Plan, or as a workers' co-operative. Companies
must be at least majority employee owned by at least 50% of
their full-time employees or by an ESOP or profit sharing plan
                  to qualify.
The list is based on information from web sites, newspaper accounts,
and EFES members organizations in all countries. Employment
numbers can change quickly; these data were compiled in 2005.
Corrections and additions are welcomed, especially from companies
themselves. Please send your information to marcmathieu@marcmathieu.be

              ANALYSING

This ranking brings very interesting information. For instance,
you see that number 1 in EMP 100 is Mondragon Corporación
Cooperativa (Spain) with some 75.000 employees. On the other hand,
Mondragon is number 2 in CAP 100, with some 3.750 millions Euro
in hands of employee owners (Mondargon being 100% employee-owned),
while Total (France) is number 1, with some 5.200 millions Euro
in hands of employee owners (Total being only 4% employee-owned).

This first draft ranking gathers the list of the 300 Europe's
biggest employee ownership companies. Companies of the EMP 100
gather some 300.000 employees. Companies of the CAP 100 give some
64.000 million Euro in hands of their employee owners.

These yearly rankings will be announced through a European conference
in autumn 2006. We are looking for partners and sponsors. For
                details, send
                your questions to EFES Secretariat.
