Employee Share Ownership - The European Policy
"Employee
share ownership for all" - this is the goal of the European
Policy for 30 years. Today we are 10 million employee
shareholders in Europe. However we would be six times
more to be comparable with the USA. A European Action
Plan was requested by the European Council in 2000,
announced by the Commission in 2002, prepared by a Pilot
Project in 2014 , the need was reaffirmed through the
European Parliament's Resolution of 23 November 2018.
It has now to be put in place.

tech startups are asking politicians to reform
employee stock ownership rules to help them better compete
with Silicon Valley peers in hiring.
Europe
could be the world’s most entrepreneurial continent.
But
policies that currently govern employee ownership across
Europe are often archaic and highly ineffective.

are so punishing that they put our startups at a major
disadvantage"...

France: Employees will hold 30% of Siaci Group. Employees
are the second largest shareholder of Gymglish. New employee

Wallace & Gromit will turn to employee ownership. European
tech startups asking politicians to reform employee stock
ownership rules. At $49 billion company Essilor, employees
are the largest shareholders.
USA: ESOP companies outperform similar conventional
firms on just about every meaningful economic standard, including
those relating to salary, benefits and job security. Why leading
American investment fund KKR promotes employee share ownership
at its portfolio companies.
