  7.560 articles about employee ownership in the world's press in April. When we launched our press review for the first time in October 2005, we got 597 articles. In March 2006, it was 1.090. In March 2007, it was 2.090… So much articles means that we got much "duplicates": When themes become popular, many local newspapers are reproducing the same information, duplicating the same articles. Now 7.560 articles becomes too much for us and we have to change our methods. This press review is based on Google tools - fortunately this month, we got a new Google function, excluding duplicates automatically.
Excluding duplicates, we got 1.952 articles in this press review in April. We made a selection of 52 remarkable articles in 12 countries: Austria, Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, India, Italy, Jamaica, Sweden, UK, USA, South Africa.
ESOP fever in USA: Billionaire Sam Zell offer for Tribune group was finally accepted, a $8.2 billion deal, for the country's second-largest newspaper publisher. Tribune will be owned by Zell and the company's 21,000 workers through a new employee stock ownership plan. The ESOP will become the majority owner of Tribune once the deal is complete, though Zell will have control. Dangerous deal for employees? With employees having a say in how Zell will run Tribune or not? Will they have a seat on the board? Nobody's offered them one yet. But employee ownership does not necessarily mean a voice in management, or even a say. "The employees were never even consulted."
IF ALL else fails, hand the workers some equity. That seems to be the new philosophy of America's private-equity firms, at least, judging by the bidding war for Chrysler and the recent deal to buy the Tribune newspaper group.
Chrysler: Rumors about billionaire Kerkorian' intention. Chryslers’s main union, United Auto Workers, is looking to enter the bidding for DaimlerChrysler’s US division, reviewing a proposal for employees and the union to buy 70 percent of Chrysler via an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). UAW representatives from around Toledo have been talking up an employee bid for the Chrysler Group, and discussions around the proposal have been going on for more than a month. They got help from the Employee Ownership Center at Kent State University in Ohio and an "Employee Buyout Committee" was set up. The workers promoting the employee-ownership plan say it is the best option for Chrysler's 50,000 UAW workers…
ESOPs give workers a stake. The number of employee stock ownership plans grew 20 percent from 2000 to 2005. "They anchor jobs and capital in our communities," John Logue said. "...Isn't that economic development?''

United Kingdom: Two veteran funds have joined forces to invest an additional £4 million in employee buyouts across the UK, with Baxi Partnership Trust.
India: The ESOP of RIL would benefit more than 18.000 employees and is the largest ESOP declared by any Indian oil and gas company. At present, Tata Tea has over 30,000 employees and workers at its North Indian tea plantations;  the Tata Group will divest its shareholding gradually with its North Indian plantation employees subscribing to the shares of the company.
Jamaica: National Workers Union representing Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) workers are to mount a lobby for the establishment of an Employee Share Ownership Plan before the upcoming sale of the power company.
Belgium: Employee share ownership lags far behind.
South Africa: Trade union Solidarity expressed unhappiness with cement company Lafarge’s unilaterally planned employee share ownership plan.
France: Merger and acquisitions are multiplying amongst large groups. For Eiffage, facing Spanish Sacyr, employee shareholders will be the key, with 22,4%. The new legislation of December 30, 2006 brings its first effects. France Telecom launches a wide new share ownership plan, giving free shares to its 104.000 employees. New employee share plan for BNP Paribas. Strong development for employee savings plans in 2006: +19%; employee savings concern now 60% of employees in the private sector.
Italy: One year later, employee shareholders of BNL are still waiting for BNP Paribas' projects.
Austria: Employee share ownership will be promoted by new government.
Sweden: Earthquake for Ericsson. In General Shareholders' Meeting, some US investment funds were able to reject the new employee share plan which was yet supported by Swedish shareholders and trade unions as well.

   7.560 articles à propos d'actionnariat salarié dans la presse mondiale en avril. Quand nous avons lancé notre revue de presse en octobre 2005, nous avions 597 articles. En mars 2006, c'était 1.090 et le mois dernier, en mars 2007, nous en avions 2.090… Avec 7.560 articles, il nous faut changer de méthode… Beaucoup d'articles apparaissent en "doubles": quand un sujet prend de l'ampleur, il est reproduit dans la presse locale et la même information est dupliquée largement. Cette revue de presse est basée sur les recherches Google. Heureusement, un nouvel outil Google est à présent disponible, qui permet d'éliminer automatiquement les doublons.
En excluant les doublons, notre revue de presse compte 1.952 articles au mois d'avril. Nous avons fait une sélection de 52 articles remarquables dans 12 pays: Autriche, Belgique, Allemagne, Espagne, France, Inde, Italie, Jamaïque, Suède, Grande Bretagne, USA, Afrique du Sud.
Fièvre aux USA: L'offre du milliardaire Sam Zell a finalement été acceptée par le Tribune, une opération de 8.2 milliards $ visant le deuxième groupe de la presse américaine. Le Tribune passé aux mains de Zell et des 21,000 employés de l'entreprise via un nouveau plan d'actionnariat salarié (un ESOP - employee stock ownership plan). Le ESOP deviendra actionnaire à 60% du Tribune au terme de l'opération. Dangereuse aventure pour les salariés? Avec un mot à dire dans la gestion du Tribune ou pas? Avec un siège au Conseil ou non? Le débat bat son plein.
"Quand tout le reste a raté, essayez l'actionnariat salarié", semble être la nouvelle philosophie des affaires, comme on le voit maintenant pour Chrysler après le Tribune.

D'après eux, c'est la meilleure option pour les 50,000 travailleurs affiliés de l'UAW chez Chrysler…

Grande Bretagne: Deux fonds de pensions apportent 4 millions de livres à Baxi Partnership Trust pour financer son programme de reprises d'entreprises par les salariés (employee buyouts).
Inde: Le nouveau plan de stock options (ESOP) chez RIL vise plus de 18.000 employés, le plus grand ESOP mis en place en Inde dans le gaz et le pétrole. Pour l'instant Tata Tea occupe 30,000 personnes dans ses plantations de thé du Nord de l'Inde; le Groupe Tata va progressivement transférer l'actionnariat de la nouvelle société aux salariés de l'entreprise.
Jamaïque: Le syndicat de la compagnie de services publics National Workers Union insiste pour la mise en place d'un plan d'actionnariat salarié avant la prochaine pivatisation.
Belgique: L'actionnariat salarié est à la traîne en Belgique. Les entreprises qui ouvrent leur capital à leurs salariés sont rares…
Afrique du Sud: Le syndicat Solidarity regrette de ne pas avoir été associé à la mise en place du plan d'actionnariat salarié chez Lafarge.
France: Les fusions et les acquisitions se multiplient dans les grands groupes. Chez Eiffage, l'actionnariat salarié est un élément-clé avec 22,4%, pour l'offre de l'espagnol Sacyr. La nouvelle loi pour l'actionnariat salarié du 30 décembre, 2006 commence à produire ses effets. France Telecom lance un grand plan d'actionnariat salarié, avec une offre gratuite d'actions pour les 104.000 salariés du groupe. Nouveau plan aussi pour BNP Paribas. Fort développement de l'épargne salariale en  2006: +19%, touchant maintenant 60% des employés du secteur privé.
Italie: Un an plus tard, les actionnaires salariés de BNL restent en attente des projets de BNP Paribas.
Autriche: L'actionnariat salarié est dans les projets du nouveau gouvernement.
Suède: Tremblement de terre chez Ericsson. En Assemblée Générale des actionnaires, des fonds d'investissements américains sont parvenus à rejeter le nouveau plan d'actionnariat salarié pourtant approuvé par les actionnaires suédois et les syndicats.

  7.560 artículos en torno al accionariado asalariado en la prensa mundial en avril. Cuando hemos lanzado en 2005 nuestra revista de prensa habiamos 597 artículos. En marzo 2006, eran 1.090 y este ultimo mes, en marzo 2007, eran 2.090… Con 7.560 artículos, hay que cambiar de método …Muchos artículos salen repetidos, cuando un tema destaca, suele ser  reproducido en la prensa local y la misma información sale repetida varias veces ampliamente. Esta revista de prensa esta basa en la busqueda con Google. Por suerte, una nueva herramienta de Google nos permite borrar las repeticiones. Sacando las repeticiones, nuestra revista de prensa cuenta con 1.952 artículos en el mes de abril. Hemos hecho una selección de 52 artículos destacados en 12 países. Austria, Belgica, Alemania, España, Francia, Italia, Jamaica, Suezia, Gran Bretaña, EE.UU, Africa del Sur.
Fiebre en los Estados Unidos : La oferta del multimillonario Sam Zell fue finalmente aceptada por el Tribune, una operación de 8.2 mil millones de dolares apuntando el sugundo grupo de la prensa americana. El Tribune entre las manos de Zell y de sus 21.000 empleados de la empresa mediante un nuevo plan de accionariado asalariado (un ESOP - employee stock ownership plan). El ESOP será accionista al 60% del Tribune al cabo de la operación. ¿Peligrosa aventura para los accionistas asalariados? ¿Con la posibilidad de decir algo sobre la gestión del Tribune? ¿ Con un escaño el el consejo de administración ? El debate esta lanzado.
"Cuando todo fracasó, prueben el accionariado asalariado », parece ser la nueva filosofía del mundo de los negocios, según se ve para Chrysler y despues el Tribune.

India: El nuevo plan de stock options (ESOP) en RIL apunta más de 18.000 asalariados, el mas grande ESOP desarrollado en India en el sector del gas y petroleo. De momento Tata Tea ocupa 30.000 personas en sus plantaciones de te del Norte de la India ; el grupo Tata va progresivamente trasladar el accionariado de la nueva sociedad a los asalariados de la empresa.
Jamaica: El sindicato de la companía de los servicios públicos National Workers Union insiste para la creacíon de un plan de accionariado asalariado antes de la proxima privatización.
Bélgica: El accionariado asalariado en Bélgica atrasado. Las empresas que abren su capital a sus asalariados son muy pocas…
Africa del Sur: El sindicato Solidarity lamenta no haber sido asociado en la constitución del plan de accionariado asalariado en Lafarge.
Francia: Las fusiones y adquisiciones se multiplican en los grandes grupos. En  Eiffage, el accionariado es un elemento clave con 22,4%, para la oferta del español Sacyr.
