  Much new information about employee ownership in January 2008, with 1.415 articles in this press review (on which 614 involving stock options and 184 about workers' cooperatives). We made a selection of  60 remarkable articles in 15 countries: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, France, Ireland, India, Italy, Morocco, UK, USA, South Africa.
Spain: Maybe this was the most significant information in January: After Merkel in Germany, Molderer in Austria, Juncker in Luxemburg, Sarkozy in France, Zapatero's Socialist Party pleads now for employee share ownership and stock options in its program for next elections.
Employee buyouts: Many examples (success stories or not) in this press review in USA, UK and Germany as well.
Austria: Saubermacher plans employee share ownership, while Erste Bank will expand its employee share plans in Romania.
Czech Republic: Share option windfalls raise some eyebrows.
Germany: Angela Merkel repeats that employee savings plans and employee share ownership have central importance.
France: In his press conference for New Year, Sarkozy called for "participation for all". Unfortunately, giant fraudulent losses (5 billions Euro) at Société Générale bring a major shock, employee shareholders being the first shareholder of the bank with 8%; on paper, each of them lost some 40.000 Euro. At the same time, the crisis seems not finished in the French biggest newspaper Le Monde (employees holding 52%).
Ireland: Aer Lingus appoints trade union high flyer to sit on board, after being nominated by the Aer Lingus Share Ownership Trust, which is controlled by the airline's staff.  
India: Ministry approves Air India’s plan for employee stock options. Employees of the State Bank of India will also be grant employee stock options.
United Kingdom: A set of employee buyouts stories. "Redundancy? No! We bought the company." Now that Tower Colliery coal mine had to close (coal reserves have definitely run out), it is time for all to look back at Tower's history – It was in 1995 when 239 miners bought the mine.
USA: The ESOP Association will celebrate its 30th Anniversary helping create better and stronger employee owned companies and spreading the message of employee ownership in America.

Espagne: Peut-être l'information la plus significative au mois de janvier: après Angela Merkel en Allemagne, Wilhelm Molderer en Autriche, Jean-Claude Juncker au Luxembourg, Nicolas Sarkozy en France, c'est au tour du Parti Socialiste de José Luis Zapatero de plaider en faveur de l'actionnariat salarié ou des stock options dans son programme pour les prochaines élections.

Autriche: Saubermacher prépare un dispositif d'actionnariat salarié, tandis que Erste Bank prévoit d'étendre son plan d'actionnariat salarié à la Roumanie.
Tchéquie: Froncements de sourcils à propos des stock options.
Allemagne: Angela Merkel insiste: "épargne salariale et actionnariat salarié sont d'importance centrale".
France: Dans sa conférence de presse de Nouvel An, le Président Sarkozy en a appelé à "la participation pour tous". Malheureusement, il n'a fallu que quelques jours pour que l'annonce de la perte géante à la Société Générale (5 milliards d'Euro) déclenche une grande secousse, les actionnaires salariés étant les plus grands actionnaires de la banque, avec 8%; sur papier, chacun d'entre eux a perdu 40.000 Euro. Au même moment, la crise n'est toujours pas finie au journal Le Monde (avec un actionnariat salarié de 52%).
Irlande: Aer Lingus désigne un syndicaliste pour siéger à son conseil, celui-ci ayant été désigné par le fonds d'actionnariat salarié de la compagnie d'aviation (Aer Lingus Share Ownership Trust).  
Inde: Approbation ministérielle pour la distribution de stock options aux employés de Air India. Idem pour les employés de la State Bank of India.
Royaume Uni: Une série d'histoires de reprises d'entreprises par les salariés dans la presse de janvier. "Faillite? Non! Nous rachetons l'entreprise." Une page se tourne pour la mine de Tower Colliery, c'est la fermeture définitive (les réserves de charbon sont épuisées), le moment de jeter un regard en arrière – c'était en 1995 quand 239 mineurs décidaient de relancer l'exploitation de la mine.

Spagna: Forse la più significativa nelle notizie di Gennaio: dopo Merkel in Germania, Molderer in Austria, Juncker in Lussemburgo, Sarkozy in Francia, il partito socialista di Zapatero ora punta sull’azionariato dei dipendenti e sulle stock options per il programma elettorale.

Francia: Nella conferenza stampa di Capodanno Sarkozy ha invocato "la partecipazione per tutti". Sfortunatamente la mega truffa finanziaria (5 miliardi di Euro) alla Société Générale costituisce un colpo violento, e poiché la collettività dei dipendenti rappresenta il primo azionista della Banca con l’8%; sulla carta ognuno ha perso 40.000 Euro. Allo stesso tempo la crisi non sembra finire nel maggior quotidiano francese, Le Monde, (i dipendenti hanno il 52% del capitale).
Irlanda: Aer Lingus accoglie nel consiglio di amministrazione un sindacalista, designato da Aer Lingus Share Ownership Trust, espressione dei dipendenti della Compagnia aerea. 
India: Il Ministro approva il piano di Air India per le stock options ai dipendenti. Anche nella State Bank of India saranno accordate stock options.
Gran Bretagna: Varie storie di acquisizioni aziendali dap parte dei dipendenti. “Fallimentoi? No!  Ci siamo comprati l’azienda”. Ora che la miniera di carbone Tower Colliery deve chiudere (con le reserve di carbone definitivamente esaurite) è il momento di guardare indietro alla storia: era il 1995 quando 239 minatori si comprarono la loro azienda.
